EU domestic steel scrap prices rose 3% during Dec 2015

The latest statistics released by the European Association of Iron and Steel (EUROFER) suggest marginal rise in domestic scrap steel prices during December last year.

BRUSSELSE (Scrap Monster): The latest statistics released by the European Association of Iron and Steel (EUROFER) suggest marginal rise in domestic scrap steel prices during December last year. The average scrap prices rose nearly 3% over the previous month. However, the scrap prices were down significantly by almost one-third during the month when matched with those during Dec ’14.

During December last year, old scrap (E3) scrap prices averaged at €159/ton, marginally up by 3.92% over the previous month. The prices had averaged at €153/ton during Nov ’14. The E3 steel scrap prices were down significantly by 33.74% when matched with December 2014. The prices had averaged at €240/ton during Dec ‘14

The prices of new scrap low residuals uncoated (E2/E8/E6) averaged at €157/ton during December 2015. The prices were up slightly by 1.29% when matched with the previous month. However, the prices dropped significantly by over 33.19% when compared with December 2014.
