China Relies Less on Alumina Imports Due to Growing Domestic Production

China is relying less on alumina imports due to growing production of its own alumina.

SHANGHAI, Jan. 6 (SMM) – China is relying less on alumina imports due to growing production of its own alumina. 

SMM expects China’s alumina imports to fall 15% from 2014 to 4.5 million tonnes in 2015. China’s alumina output is expected to grow 9.7% from 2014 to 56.38 million tonnes in 2015, with the growth down 0.6 percentage point.
