ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) slipped to $189 a ton week-on-week during the week ended December 18, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.

According to TSI, daily benchmark index for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 fell $1 a ton from last Friday to end the week at $188 a ton CFR Iskenderun port.

There were a few deals concluded around the $189-190 a ton level early in the week, but trade then shifted slightly lower to $188 a ton by the end of the week, which appeared to indicate prices may have peaked for the short term at least.

Most participants, however, feel the market is relatively stable at these levels and any repeat of the large falls seen over the course of this year are unlikely at this stage.
