China Zinc Slag and Zinc Oxide Prices Follow Zinc Up

Prices of indirect zinc oxide rose 400 yuan to 13,500-13,900 yuan per tonne this past week, according to SMM data.

SHANGHAI, Dec. 31 (SMM) - Prices of indirect zinc oxide rose 400 yuan to 13,500-13,900 yuan per tonne this past week, according to SMM data. Prices of zinc slag (95%) in Tianjin, Shandong and Hebei climbed to 10,800-11,400 yuan per tonne.

“Zinc slag prices received support as zinc oxide plants are hoarding stocks for production during China’s New Year holiday in 2016.”said an SMM zinc analyst.

Trading in the zinc oxide market muted due to year-end liquidity crunch. An increasing number of zinc oxide producers are expected to cut or cease production after the New Year holiday in 2016.
