TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices  for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS # 1&2 80:20 stayed flat during  the week ended December 11, as per the latest figures from The Steel  Index.

According to TSI, containerized scrap index for Taiwanese imports  remained flat during the week at $150 a ton. The week saw a modest rise in  import activities for ISRI grade scrap and few transactions have been recorded,  with volume remaining minimal at best.

Most of the Taiwanese mills  are still adopting a wait-and-see stance and observing how the international  scrap market will move in the coming days.

That said, domestic rebar  prices underperformed again and therefore, coupled with weak demand, mills are  being cautious when it comes to purchasing imported scrap.
