Jiangsu will raise discharge fees for waste gas and effluent starting January 1, 2016, and this will increase costs at local galvanizers, crra010.com reports.

SHANGHAI, Dec. 24 (SMM) - Jiangsu will raise discharge fees for waste gas and effluent starting January 1, 2016, and this will increase costs at local galvanizers, crra010.com reports.

The levy of discharge fees will differentiate between producers. Those with efficient pollution treatment will only need to pay low discharge fees, but those discharging excessive level of waste or with outdated capacity will pay two-fold of standard fees.

“Galvanizers will be thus forced to upgrade equipments to reduce discharge. Large and medium producers can expand input in environmental protection. Some small ones, however, may be forced out of the market.”said Zhangzhi, General Manager of Shanghai Haowei Environmental Engineering Co..
