Decline in world crude steel output accelerates further in Nov 2015

According to the most recent statistics published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by 66 member countries was 126.826 million tonnes (Mt) in November this year.

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to the most recent statistics published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by 66 member countries was 126.826 million tonnes (Mt) in November this year, down 4.1% upon comparison with production of 132.227 Mt during same month a year before.

The total crude steel production by EU-28 countries during November this year was 13.160 Million tonnes (Mt), sharply down by 7.5% than the November 2014 production of 14.225 Mt. Other European countries produced 2.794 Million tonnes of crude steel, down by nearly 6% when compared to 2.978 Million tonnes production achieved during November 2014. The CIS countries’ crude steel production dropped marginally by 1.7% from 8.331 Mt to 8.191 Mt. The total crude steel production by North America declined sharply by 13.7% from 9.729 Mt in November 2014 to 8.394 Mt in November this year.

The total crude steel production by South American region during November this year dropped by 5.1% to 3.448 Mt. African countries produced 1.032 Million tonnes of crude steel, considerably lower by 13.5% when compared to 1.193 Million tonnes production achieved during November 2014. The total crude steel production by the Middle East countries during November this year was 2.112 Million tonnes(Mt), lower by 14.7% when compared with the November 2014 output of 2.476 Mt. The Asian countries’ crude steel production dropped by 2.3% from 89.271 Mt to 87.210 Mt. The total crude steel production by Oceania region surged higher by 24.2% from 0.390 Mt in November 2014 to 0.484 Mt in November this year.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first eleven months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
