SHANGHAI, Dec. 18 (SMM) – Global mining giants, badly hit by falling manganese ore prices, recently announced massive production cuts.
OMH said in a statement that it will suspend mining activity at its Bootu Greek manganese mine until market conditions improve.
UMK said earlier that it will cut manganese ore output by half in December 2015 and January 2016. The company announced this Tuesday that it will not sell or ship any manganese ore in January next year.
It was reported that Tshipi mine in South Africa plans to slash manganese ore exports by at least 35% in coming over three months and to cut exports by 30% next year.
South32 reportedly has suspended production at its manganese ore mine in South Africa following death at the mine, with the mine to be closed until January next year.
