Inbound shipment of iron ore to China is expected to rise further in December, Shanghai Metals Market foresees.

SHANGHAI, Dec. 15 (SMM) – Inbound shipment of iron ore to China is expected to rise further in December, Shanghai Metals Market foresees.

“Lower supply of domestic ore and smaller-than-expected maintenance at domestic steel mills will increase import interest in December,” SMM iron ore analyst points out.

Supply of domestic ore is falling as production conditions at domestic iron mines are worsening with bigger losses, SMM survey finds.

According to China Customs, China imported 82.13 million tonnes of iron ore in November, up 6.61 million tonnes or 8.8% from October, and up 21.9% on a yearly basis.
