ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) continued to decline week-on-week during the week ended December 04, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.

According to TSI, average daily benchmark index for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 fell by $4 a ton to end the week at $190 a ton CFR Iskenderun port.

Only a couple of cargoes were heard booked this week, at slightly stronger pricing than many had been anticipating, with HMS #1&2 80:20 changing hands for as much as $193 a ton.

Another deal was heard completed nearer to $184 a ton, but participants questioned the quality of this material. The current lack of demand from mills is being counteracted by tighter supply of readily available cargoes.

The US domestic market looks set for a rise in December according to market participants, whilst iron ore drops to record lows, leaving a somewhat murky picture for scrap pricing ahead.
