Taiwan steel scrap imports rose 38% in November

According to latest trade data released by the Taiwan Directorate General of Customs, the country’s scrap steel imports during the month of November this year climbed higher significantly.

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): According to latest trade data released by the Taiwan Directorate General of Customs, the country’s scrap steel imports during the month of November this year climbed higher significantly when compared with the imports during the previous month.

The steel scrap imports by the country totaled 181,000 tons tons during the month. The imports were up 38% when compared with the imports of 131,000 tons during October this year.

Taiwan’s major importing countries included Japan, the US and Hong Kong.

Japan was the largest exporter of scrap steel to Taiwan during the month. The country’s imports from Japan totaled 83,267 tons, accounting for over 46% of the total imports by Taiwan during the month.

The second largest exporter was the US. The exports from the US to Taiwan totaled 71,607 tons. The imports from the US accounted for nearly 40% of the total imports by Taiwan during the month.

In third place was Hong Kong with 8,943 tons. Hong Kong’s market share in Taiwan’s monthly imports stood at nearly 5%.
