SHANGHAI, Dec. 9 (SMM) – The environmental protection is upgraded in Henan ahead of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit Dec. 14-15. This will lead to production halts at local lead producers, which is expected to boost lead prices.

At present, some secondary lead smelters already suspend operation in Henan and more operation halts are expected next week both at secondary and refined lead producers.

Primary lead capacity totals 1.57 million tonnes in Henan, accounting for 35% of total capacity in China. And secondary lead capacity comes at 450,000 tonnes there, claiming 11% of domestic total capacity.
