SHANGHAI, Dec. 5 (SMM) – Secondary lead prices in Guangdong increased from 11,300 yuan per tonne to 11350-11400 yuan per tonne on Dec. 4, Shanghai Metals Market understood.

Tightened secondary lead supply added to its attractiveness in Guangdong. Secondary lead producers there held back sales when prices were below 11,350 yuan per tonne.

“Secondary lead inventories are almost out of stock last week in Guangdong and now supply is rather tightened”, one downstream producer expressed.

Local scrap battery traders were unwilling to sell at lows, cutting supply in market. Purchase prices in Guangdong were 200-300 yuan per tonne below those in Jiangsu, Henan and Anhui, with 6,400-6,500 yuan per tonne for scrap automobile batteries (white shell) there on Dec. 4 and 6,900 yuan per tonne for scrap motive batteries.
