SHANGHAI, Dec. 4 (SMM) – Average operating rate at Chinese 47 major primary lead producers hit a new high for 2015 at 69.78% in November, up 3.26 percentage points MoM, SMM surveyed.

Continuous rise in domestic concentrate TCs yielded more profits for lead smelters. TCs for domestic materials came at 2,550 yuan per tonne (Pb content) in November, up 100 yuan per tonne (Pb content) MoM. Profits for lead smelters as of the end of November were 4.68 times of those at the end of 2014, boosting producing interest at lead smelters.

Demand increased at large lead-acid battery makers. Some large battery makers ramped up production for year’s target at the end of this year. Besides, above 100 Ah battery replacement accelerated in north regions due to cold weather. Both factors drove up overall demand for lead.
