SINGAPORE (Scrap Register): ASEAN hot rolled cold (HRC) steel import prices (CFR ASEAN port) remained flat week-on-week to $275 a ton in the week ended November 27, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index.

It was another week of stable prices in the ASEAN region, as the benchmark HRC imports index remained flat at $275 a ton.

Activity was even slower than last week, as many of the market participants have already closed their trading accounts for November and were waiting to start a new round of negotiations in December.

Those in the market were looking for material with short lead-times or for discounts of around $3 a ton from mills’ asking prices for big volume orders.

Premiums for HRC from South Korea, Japan and Taiwan trended down this week, with Taiwan being the runner-up after China in this price competition.
