SHANGHAI, Nov. 30 (SMM) – Spot lead market is plagued by transport disruption recently in China’s Beijing, Liaoning, Henan and Hebei, hurt by rains, snows and fogs in those regions, SMM learns.
One scrap battery trader in Beijing reported troubles in transporting scrap batteries as roads were closed for snows several days ago. What's worse, fogs came after the snows melted, leading to closure of high-speed road. Consequently, scrap batteries cannot be transported to lead smelters.
One lead smelter in Henan halts shipment recently due to wet and smooth road, resulting from melting snows. And shipment also decreases at present in Liaoning because of snows and poor downstream demand.
