Russia pig iron exports soared higher in September

According to government statistics released yesterday, the pig iron exports by Russia during the month of September this year jumped higher by more than 50% from the previous month.

MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): According to government statistics released yesterday, the pig iron exports by Russia during the month of September this year jumped significantly higher when compared with the exports during same month a year before. Also, the exports soared from the previous month.

Russia’s pig iron exports totaled 561,422 during September ’15. The total exports were up by 7.3% over the previous year. The country’s pig iron exports had totaled 523,226 tons during the month of September in 2014. The exports soared 50.6% from a month ago. Russia’s pig iron exports had totaled 372,880 tons during August this year.

The largest importer of Russian pig iron during Sep ‘15 was the US with 240,731 tons. The exports to the US rose sharply by 64.4% when compared with the exports of 146,466 tons during the previous month. The exports to the US in Sep ’15 accounted for 42.9% of the total pig iron exports by Russia during the month. The second largest importer was Spain. The imports by Spain surged higher by almost five-fold over the previous month total of 26,834 tons. In third place was Taiwan with 33,260 tons. The other key export destinations of Russian pig iron were Turkey (29,651 tons), the Netherlands (21,912 tons) and South Korea (19,159 tons).

The cumulative pig iron exports by the country during the initial three quarters totaled 3.838 million tons, 16% higher when compared with the exports of 3.304 million tons during the corresponding nine-month period in 2014. The top export destination of Russian pig iron was the US. The exports to the country totaled 1.797 million tons, accounting for 46.8% of the total pig iron exports during this period. The other key importers during Jan-Sep ’15 were Spain (497,041 tons), Italy (395,181 tons), Turkey (281,491 tons) and Taiwan (247,848 tons).

The country’s pig iron exports during the entire year 2015 are estimated to exceed 5 million tons.
