Chinese Copper Smelters Plan to Meet on Sluggish Prices

Chinese major copper smelters are reported to meet in Shanghai this Saturday (Nov. 28) after prices tumbled to six-year lows, market sources reported.

SHANGHAI, Nov. 27 (SMM) – Chinese major copper smelters are reported to meet in Shanghai this Saturday (Nov. 28) after prices tumbled to six-year lows, market sources reported. 

Smelters plan to exchange views over current market situation, TCs and sluggish prices, said person familiar with situation. 

But, production cut will be not their must-to-do thing, the person noted. 

After base metal prices tumbled recently, talks of production cuts and stock-piling by China’s reserve agency are running wild in the market. 

Chinese major zinc smelters promised to cut output to boost prices after a meeting Last week, and Chinese nickel producers will also meet on Friday (Nov. 27) to discuss potential production cuts.
