Johnson Controls to Expand Start-Stop Battery Capacity in China

Johnson Controls Inc. decided to expand current annual start-stop battery capacity to 3.4 million pieces from 1.5 million pieces, metalchina.com reported.

SHANGHAI, Nov. 26 (SMM) – Johnson Controls Inc. decided to expand current annual start-stop battery capacity to 3.4 million pieces from 1.5 million pieces in China, metalchina.com reported.

Demand for electric bike, hybrid electrical car and start-stop car remains on the upside track in China, which stimulates the company to expand battery capacity.

In August, the company invested USD 0.2 billion to build a battery plant in Liaoning’s Shenyang. And the plant will enter operation early 2018 with annual capacity at 6 million pieces.
