SHANGHAI, Nov. 24 (SMM) - Ten large zinc smelters in China plan to cut refined zinc output by 500,000 tonnes in 2016 now that zinc prices have fallen to a six-year low, according to NBD sources.
These zinc smelters include Zhuzhou Smelter Group, Zhongjing Lingnan Nonfemet, Chihong Zn&Ge and Baiyin Nonferrous Metals Company. The projected output cut will affect about 10% of domestic zinc output next year, and is expected to lend significant boost to zinc prices in the near term.
