BEIJING (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by Asia dropped by 3.0% during the month of October 2015 year-on-year.
The total crude steel production by China during October was 66.124 Million tonnes, edging lower by 3.1% when compared with the production of 68.240 Mt during October 2014. India produced 7.500 Million tonnes of crude steel, higher by 4.9% when compared with 7.152 Million tonnes production achieved during October last year.
Japan reported 3.8% decline in monthly crude steel output during the month. Japan's crude steel output dropped from 9.362 Million tonnes in October 2014 to 9.003 Million tonnes in the same month this year.
South Korean crude steel production edged lower by 5.6% from 6.175 Million tonnes in October 2014 to 5.830 Million tonnes in October this year. Meantime, Pakistan’s crude steel output totaled 240,000 tonnes during the month.
The Taiwanese Oct ‘15 crude steel output has dropped considerably by 17.6% year-on-year to 1.705 Million tonnes from 2.070 Million tonnes during same month last year. However, Thailand’s crude steel output has increased by 5.9% from 316,000 tonnes during October last year to almost 335,000 tonnes this year.
The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first ten months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
