US Raw Steel production declines sharply by 15.8% to 1,562,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production declined sharply by 15.8 percent 1,562,000 net tons in the week ended November 21, 2015.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production declined sharply by 15.8 percent 1,562,000 net tons in the week ended November 21, 2015, while the capability utilization rate was 65.3 percent, as per the latest figures released by the the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

According to AISI, production was 1,856,000 net tons in the week ended November 21, 2014 while the capability utilization then was 77.2 percent. 

Production for the week ended November 21, 2015 is down 2.4 percent from the previous week ending November 14, 2015 when production was 1,601,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 67.0 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through November 21, 2015 was 79,228,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 71.9 percent. That is down 8.5 percent from the 86,654,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 77.8 percent.
