More than 30% secondary lead producers idled recently as weak prices bit.

SHANGHAI, Nov. 19 (SMM) – More than 30% secondary lead producers idled recently as weak prices bit, SMM surveyed.

Secondary lead prices extended losses recently, mainly at 11,400-11,500 yuan per tonne (tax excluded) on Nov. 16. Almost no price offers were reportedly given in secondary lead market on Nov. 17, when SMM #1 lead slumped 225 yuan per tonne.

SMM survey of 15 domestic secondary lead smelters showed that 1/3 of them were already closed. A total of 8 producers under operation cut production and the rest 2 kept normal operation.
