SHANGHAI, Nov. 18 (SMM) – Motive batteries in China are expected to grow 15-30 yuan due to the upcoming consumption tax. But the expectation is hurt by recent slipping spot lead prices, SMM learns.
SMM #1 lead quoted at 12,700-12,800 yuan per tonne on Nov. 18, down 500 yuan per tonne from Nov. 12. Spot lead serves as raw materials for motive batteries and consequently spot price declines will hurt motive battery prices.
Lead polar plate traded at 16,400-16,600 yuan per tonne on Nov. 12 with 79.7 yuan for a set of polar plate, versus 77.3 yuan on Nov. 18. This cut costs by 9.6 yuan for a set of motive batteries.
