LONDON (Scrap Register): Northern Europe hot rolled cold  (HRC) steel prices declined by €5 a ton week-on-week to €338 per ton in the week  ended November 06, as per the latest figures released by The Steel  Index.

Market activity continues to be subdued in Europe and with mills  eager for new orders, asking prices were lowered in an attempt to attract some  business.

TSI’s North European HRC  index slipped today to €338 a ton, with top-tier steelmakers reportedly offering  at or very close to these transaction price levels.

However, South  European HRC spot prices were also declining, with discounts given to large  orders, and some deals concluded as low as €280/t.

Prices for  Chinese-origin imports moved slightly down compared to the previous week, with  offers around $305/t CIF Italy.
