Main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange continues to stay below 600 points

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities continued to stay below 600 points on Thursday lead by a sharp decline in capesize, panamax and supramax rates.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities continued to stay below 600 points on Thursday lead by a sharp decline in capesize, panamax and supramax rates.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, down by another 20 points to 579 points on Thursday.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
