US Raw steel production slips during first week of November

ALBANY (Scrap Monster): As per the statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the raw steel production by the country declined considerably during the week ended November 7th, 2015. The production had recorded steep decline of 1.6% during the week prior to this.

The total domestic raw steel output during the week ending November 7th was 1,618,000 net tons. The AISI data indicates that the US raw steel production has declined significantly by 1.4% during the week. This is in comparison with the previous week (ie., the week ended Oct 31st)  production figures of 1,641,000 net tons. Also, the weekly output represents a sharp decline of 12.8% in comparison with production of 1,856,000 net tons during same week the previous year.

The capability utilization rate of US steel makers dropped to 67.7% during the week ended Nov 1st, 2015.

The capacity utilization rate has witnessed modest decline when compared with 68.6% during the previous week (ie., the week ending October 31st). Also, capacity utilization was considerably lower when compared with the rate of 77.2% during same week the previous year.
