Main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange declines sharply to 657 points

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities declined sharply on Wednesday.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities declined sharply on Wednesday mainly due to a sharp decline in capesize, panamax and supramax rates.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, down by another 23 points to 657 points on Wednesday.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
