The weekly raw steel output by the US dropped sharply by 1.6% during the week ended October 31st, 2015.US Raw steel output declined sharply during Oct last week
ALBANY (Scrap Monster): As per the statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the raw steel production by the country declined considerably during the week ended October 31st, 2015. The production had recorded marginal decline of 0.5% during the week prior to this.
The total domestic raw steel output during the week ending October 31st was 1,641,000 net tons. The AISI data indicates that the US raw steel production has declined significantly by 1.6% during the week. This is in comparison with the previous week (ie., the week ended Oct 24th) production figures of 1,667,000 net tons. Also, the weekly output represents a sharp decline of 10.8% in comparison with production of 1,840,000 net tons during same week the previous year.
The capability utilization rate of US steel makers dropped to 68.6% during the week ended Oct 31st, 2015.
The capacity utilization rate has witnessed modest decline when compared with 69.7% during the previous week (ie., the week ending October 24th). Also, capacity utilization was considerably lower when compared with the rate of 76.5% during same week the previous year.
