Chalco (Fushun) recently announced full closure, citing severe losses from tumbling aluminum prices.

SHANGHAI, Oct. 28 (SMM) –Chalco (Fushun) recently announced full closure, citing severe losses from tumbling aluminum prices. Will the closure boost aluminum prices?

The move will have little impact on aluminum prices, SMM noted, as the smelter’s annual capacity is too small at just 300,000 tonnes.

The smelter suffers high power costs as it has no captive power plant, SMM has learned.
