China’s alumina output fell in September as slump in alumina prices discouraged production, SMM learned.

SHANGHAI, Oct. 23 (SMM) – China’s alumina output fell in September as slump in alumina prices discouraged production, SMM learned.

Output fell 119,000 tonnes month-on-month to 4.72 million tonnes in September, but up 15.7% from a year ago, SMM data showed.

Despite falling alumina prices, the decline in costs deterred refineries from cutting output significantly, though.
