India​ Gold Jewellery exports dropped further

NEW DELHI (Scrap Monster): The Indian gold jewellery exports declined sharply by over 40% year-on-year to $660.28 million (Rs. 4,372.37 Crore) in September 2015 while the country’s silver jewelry exports surged higher to $ 281.98 million (Rs. 1,867.24 Crore). This is in accordance with the latest official monthly data released by the country’s Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

According to GJEPC, country's cut and polished diamond exports in September ‘15 touched $1,922.57 million, declining by 27.87% over the previous year. The country’s exports of Coloured Gemstones recorded marginal increase, rising from $67.65 million during September ‘14 to $68.78 million during September ‘15. However, the exports of Pearls declined to $0.31 million from $0.41 million a year ago. The exports of Synthetic stones have recorded significant increase from $4.82 million in September 2014 to $6.75 million in September 2015.

India's export of gold medallions & coins jumped multi-fold during the month of September this year. The exports during the month totaled $508.81 million (Rs. 3,369.35 Crores). This is nearly 320% higher when compared with the exports of $120.78 million (Rs. 735.05 Crores) recorded during the same month a year ago. Meantime, export of Rough diamond from the country has declined substantially by almost 55% in September ‘15. The exports of Rough diamonds during the month totaled $67.28 million (Rs. 445.54 Crore).

The figures released by the country’s Export Promotion Council indicate that gold jewellery exports trended upwards in September when compared with August 2015. The exports of Colored gemstones recorded month-on-month increase. The export of gold medallions and coins export soared higher during Sep ‘15 when matched with the previous month. Also, silver jewellery exports climbed higher in comparison with the previous month.
