CHICAGO (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has announced the winners of the 6th Steel Awards at the 49th Annual Steel Industry Conference held in Chicago on 12th October. The awards were announced in the following categories.

Steel Industry Website of the Year- TMK (www.tmk-group.com)

Innovation of the Year- POSCO’s lean duplex stainless steel

Excellence in Sustainability- ArcelorMittal for their 10 sustainability outcomes

Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment- Tata Steel Europe for using LCA to demonstrate the impact of reuse of steel

Excellence in Education and Training- Tata Steel Europe’s blended learning curriculum

Journalist of the Year- Koeph Innace of Platts

Industry Communicator of the Year-John Ferriola of Nucor Corp.

Edwin Basson, Director General, worldsteel congratulated all the Steelie Award winners. He further added that creative ideas and dedicated efforts by individuals and companies will lead to progress of the steel industry.

The winners were selected by respective expert panels after scrutiny of the nominations. The Journalist and Industry Communicator Awards were adjudged by direct vote.

 The World Steel Association (worldsteel) is one of the largest and most dynamic industry associations in the world. worldsteel represents approximately 170 steel producers (including 17 of the world's 20 largest steel companies), national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes. worldsteel members represent around 85% of world steel production.
