ANKARA (Scrap register): Turkish hot rolled coil selling figures were under negative pressure during September, according to MEPS. Provisional anti-dumping duties on imports from China, Russia, Japan and Slovakia have been set.

Domestic wire rod transaction values moved lower in September. The downward pressure occurred despite the fact that Isdemir’s wire rod mill has been shut for maintenance work until the middle of October. Export prices continued to fall.

Meanwhile, Turkish service centres are reluctant to purchase rebar in, what they deem as, precarious trading conditions.

Merchant bar transaction values decreased further in September. Steelmakers are growing more pessimistic about the prospects for domestic steel consumption in the final quarter of 2015.
