CIS crude steel output declined 1% in August

The crude steel production by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) declined by 9.3% during the month of August year-on-year.

MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) declined by 9.3% during the month of August year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by Byelorussia increased by 3.80% during August this year to 242,000 tonnes from 233,000 tonnes in August 2014.  Kazakhstan produced 303,000 tonnes of crude steel, down significantly by 14.1% when compared to 353,000 tonnes production achieved during August last year. Moldova recorded 25,000 tonnes steel output during the month, rising considerably by 28.9% over the previous year. The total crude steel production by Russia was down by 3.2% from 6.244 Million tonnes in August 2014 to 6.046 Million tonnes this August.

There was marked increase in Ukraine’s crude steel output in August. Ukraine’s total crude steel output was up by 8.6% to 1.919 Million tonnes in August 2015 when compared with the output of 1.767 Million tonnes during August last year. Also, Uzbekistan’s crude steel output declined considerably by 12.5% during the month.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first eight months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
