SHANGHAI, Sept. 28 (SMM) – China’s new Air Pollution Prevention Law will restrict use of high-sulfur petroleum coke, a key feedstock in aluminum smelting. How will the law affect China’s aluminum production?

SMM sees limited impact from the tougher requirement.

At present, most Chinese aluminum smelters use low- and medium-sulfur petroleum coke. Supply of such petroleum coke is plentiful.

The revised version of the law will take effect on January 1, 2016.
