China Secondary Lead Smelters Report Rising Profits on Cost Reduction

Chinese secondary lead producers reported rising profits this week, SMM noted.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 25 (SMM) – Chinese secondary lead producers registered growing profits this week thanks to cost reduction, SMM noted.

Traded prices for secondary lead were mainly 12,650-12,800 yuan per tonne (tax included) this week. Average price came at 12,705 yuan per tonne, slipping 25 yuan per tonne. Meanwhile, scrap automobile battery (white shell) and motive battery prices averaged 7,000 yuan per tonne and 7,500 yuan per tonne, respectively. This cut smelting cost by 70-75 yuan per tonne.
