NEW YORK (Scrap Register): US HR coil prices edged up during the week ended September 11, while stainless steel scrap prices on Scrap Register Price Index stayed flat.

A shorter working week in the US due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday meant activity was tepid at best, with transactions largely concluding at the lower end of a $450-460 a short ton range.

TSI’s daily US Midwest index for HR coil ticked up a few dollars over the week to $453 a short ton FOB Mill.

Prices have remained unusually range bound since April, trading in a $26 a short ton range (between $444-470 a short ton).

However, the prices of major stainless steel scrap commodities like 201 SS, 301 SS, 309 SS, 310 SS and 330 SS stayed flat on Scrap Register US Price Index during the week.
