SHANGHAI, Sept. 17 (SMM) - Dongfeng Special Vehicle (Shiyan) Bus Co. will cooperate with Wuhan Hongyuan Weili New Energy Technology Co. to produce over 500 zinc air battery electric vehicles in 2016, cnhubei.com reports.

Hongyuan Weili majorly supplies zinc air batteries with prices of over 400,000 yuan each. Each vehicle is worth over 1 million yuan and enjoys 500,000 yuan subsidy from Chinese government.

“The weight of zinc air battery is only 50% of lithium battery. Driving range is 200% of the latter, and assembling price is only 40%,”said a manager of Hongyuan Weili. The company is expected to produce over 3,000 zinc air batteries as of 2017.
