Chinese leading battery makers shift their eyes to lithium batteries considering oversupply and fierce price wars in lead-acid battery industry.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 16 (SMM) – Chinese leading battery makers shift their eyes to lithium batteries considering oversupply and fierce price wars in lead-acid battery industry, SMM reports at the 2015 (5th) Secondary Lead & Storage Battery Summit.

Tianneng Group has accounted for as high as 55% domestic lithium battery market and lithium battery capacity has hit 1.25 GWH/yr at the company.

Chaowei Power, another domestic leading battery producer, started the research & development of lithium batteries in 2012 and is secluded to produce and sell auto start-stop batteries in 2016.

During the 13th 5-year plan period, domestic lithium battery technology will gradually develop and may hit traditional lead-acid battery market, SMM notes.
