SHANGHAI, Sept. 16 (SMM) –Chinese aluminum smelters will cut output, should aluminum prices remain low for a long time, hexun.com reported, citing Rusal President Oleg Djeripaska.

With environmental protection policies in place, energy-intensive and highly-polluting smelters will face growing costs and might be forced to shut down, the media quoted Oleg Djeripaska as saying. 

Aluminum prices hit a six-year low on global surplus, hexun.com said.
