SHANGHAI, Sept. 14 (SMM) – SHFE 1511 zinc contract prices opened at RMB 14,870/mt Thursday evening, then fluctuated between RMB 14,850-14,900/mt and closed at RMB 14,855/mt, down RMB 20/mt or 0.13%. Trading volumes were up 16,754 to 55,382 lots, and total positions increased 3,052 to 130,000. SHFE 1511 zinc contract prices opened at RMB 14,855/mt Friday, and rose to RMB 14,900/mt. As the Shanghai Composite Index gained ground, SHFE 1511 zinc contract prices closed at RMB 14,935/mt, up RMB 60/mt or 0.40%. Trading volumes increased 23,094 to 121,000 lots, and total positions grew 6,776 to 134,000.

#0 zinc prices were between RMB 14,850-14,900/mt, RMB 40-0/mt below SHFE 1510 zinc contract prices. #1 zinc traded at RMB 14,710-14,730/mt. Smelters sold normally, and imported zinc supply was also sufficient, leading to ample supply. Traders replenished stocks at lows, and mostly sold proactively. Downstream buying interest improved, growing overall transactions. Traded prices were between RMB 14,830-14,900/mt in the afternoon.
