SHANGHAI, Sept. 11(SMM) – Operating rates at Chinese lead-acid battery makers averaged 68.66% in August, up 2.41 percentage points MoM, SMM survey reported.
Average operating rate at motive battery makers grew 11.22 percentage points MoM to 75.01%. High temperatures helped motive batteries enter a boom season and leading battery makers also halted prices wars and raised battery prices. Less-known battery makers also reported an improvement in sales due to price edge. Those factors lent support to operating rate in August.
The rate posted declines at ignition and backup battery makers. Slack demand for ignition batteries even in peak season and high summer temperatures were behind the fall in operating rate, SMM explained.
