World pig iron output drops marginally in July

The global pig iron production dropped slightly over the previous month in July '15. This is in accordance with the latest statistics released by the World Steel Association.

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to latest statistics released by the World Steel Association, the global pig iron output dropped marginally by 0.76% over the previous month to 97.075 million tons during the month of July this year. The global of pig iron had totaled 97.821 million tons during the month before this.

The total pig iron production by EU-28 countries during July this year was 7.862 Million tonnes (Mt), slightly lower when compared with the June 2015 production of 7.918 Mt. Germany accounted for 2.360 Mt and the UK’s pig iron output totaled 900,000 mt. France’s pig iron output surged higher from 921,000 mt in June ’15 to 950,000 mt in July ’15.

Among Asian countries, China accounted for nearly 60% of the world blast-furnace iron output in July 2015. The Chinese output totaled 57,330 mt during the month. The Indian pig iron output ended slightly higher at 4.805 million mt in July ’15 when compared with the output of 4.757 million mt in June this year. The Japanese pig iron output increased from 6.548 million mt in June ’15 to 6.962 million mt in July this year. Also, South Korean output climbed higher from 3.953 million mt a month before to 4.085 million mt during July ’15.

The US pig iron output climbed higher by almost 4% to 2.430 million mt. A marginal increase in production volume was reported by Brazil during the month. The country’s pig iron production increased from 2.324 million mt a month ago to 2.357 million mt during July ’15. The other major pig iron producing nations were Russia (4.450 million mt, up 3.39% month-on-month) and Ukraine (1.890 million mt, up 3.34% month-on-month).
