Main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange drops to below 900 points on weak panamax, supramax rates

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities dropped to below 900 points on Thursday mainly due to weak panamax and supramax.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities dropped to below 900 points on Thursday mainly due to weak panamax and supramax.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, down by another 15 points to 891 points on Thursday.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
