Combined zinc inventories in China’s major markets, including Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong added 8,600 tonnes this week, according to SMM data.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 2 (SMM) - Combined zinc inventories in China’s major markets, including Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong added 8,600 tonnes this week, according to SMM data.

“Inventories grew across the three markets. Smelters ramped up supply to generate cash at the month’s end, with cargo holders also liquidating inventories”, said SMM zinc analyst. “Large influx of imported zinc also added to inventories”.

Outward shipments in Tianjin decreased due to halts at end-users from environmental protection inspections. End-users in Guangdong bought only modestly due to month-end cash tightness, growing inventories.
