China Secondary Lead Smelters See Profits up Slightly

Chinese secondary lead smelters reported a modest growth in profit this week.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 2 (SMM) – Chinese secondary lead smelters reported a modest growth in profit this week, SMM learnt.

Secondary lead prices averaged 12,775 yuan per tonne this week, up 20 yuan per tonne from last week. However, scrap motive battery and automobile battery (white shell) prices kept unchanged at 7,525 yuan per tonne and 7,025 yuan per tonne, respectively, leaving profit room open for smelters.

Secondary lead supply was tightened by production cut and halt due to Beijing’s parade and low secondary lead prices.
