Utilization Rate of Global Crude Steel Capacity Hit Six-Year Low in July

Global crude steel capacity utilization rate hit a six-year low in July, according to the World Steel Association.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 2 (SMM) - Global crude steel capacity utilization rate hit a six-year low in July, according to the World Steel Association. Crude steel output in global 65 major steel producing countries was 132.9 million tonnes in July, down 3.8% year-on-year, with the growth larger than June’s.

Aside from the EU, Middle East and Africa, crude steel output slid across other countries. The drop in output was the most significant in North America and Commonwealth of Independent States. Asia also saw expanding crude steel output declines.
