SHANGHAI, Aug. 28 (SMM) – China imported 695,200 lead-acid batteries in July, up 26.14% from June and 11.66% YoY, China Customs reported.

Ignition battery imports came in at 253,300 in July, rising 26.54% MoM and total ignition battery imports stood at 1.5 million during January-July, up 44.14% when matched with the same period last year.

China encourages the use of green car in recent years, increasing demand for batteries.

Demand for high-end batteries, including AMG batteries, posts a rise in China while domestic capacity of AMG batteries is limited. This help boost demand for imports.

Lead-acid battery imports see a slid of 6.29% YoY to 4.29 million during the first seven months of this year.
