SHANGHAI, Aug. 28 (SMM) – Some lead smelters receive an announcement of 30% cut in production from Aug. 28-Sep. 5 on Aug. 28 in China’s Henan due to the upcoming parade in Beijing, SMM learns.
As the top one lead producing province, Henan contributes to 825,700 tonnes of lead during Jan.-Jul., covering 36.5% of total output in China. Currently, most local lead smelters are not fully operational. Thus, the 30% cut will not impact local actual production so much.
The 30% cut in Henan’s lead output will tighten spot supply and this will lead support to lead prices, SMM notes.
